Gore Vidal es un escritor estadounidense. Nació en Nueva York, el 3 de octubre de 1925 y falleció en Los Ángeles, el 31 de julio de 2012.
Comenzó muy joven a publicar novelas, con gran éxito, al tiempo que también escribía ensayos, obras de teatro y trabajaba como guionista en películas y series de televisión.
Participó activamente en política, con controvertidas críticas a las decisiones del gobierno. De tal forma, que en ocasiones, fueron más valoradas sus obras de no ficción que sus novelas.
