M. C. Beaton es uno de los seudónimos de la escritora británica Marion Chesney, que nació en Glasgow en 1936 y falleció en Gloucester, el 30 de diciembre de 2019, ya que utiliza distintos nombres según el género novelesco al que se dedique en ese momento.
Bajo el nombre de Marion Chesney comenzó a escribir novelas históricas de romances que también firmaba con los nombres Ann Fairfax, Jennie Tremaine, Helen Crampton, Charlotte Ward, and Sarah Chester.
Posteriormente, se decidió por las novelas de misterio bajo el seudónimo M. C. Beaton y así creó las series de Hamish Macbeth y Agatha Raisin, sus libros más populares.
Solo están traducidas al español media docena de novelas de la serie Agatha Raisin editadas por Círculo de Lectores y por medios digitales.
Por lo tanto, solo he leído esos libros de esta autora, como en muchos otros casos, son libros para relajarse una tarde, entretenidos, divertidos, recuerdan mucho a Agatha Christie, y no solo por el nombre de la protagonista, la publicista y ahora metida a investigadora aficionada, Agatha Raisin, además por su edad y otras muchas cosas me siento un poco identificada con ella, sino por los ambientes, las tramas, todo muy británico.
